한국외국인학교(KIS) 학생들에게 삶의 체험담 강의

4.16(화) 13시 판교 외국인학교에서

유명인사들의 자서전이나 저서를 학생들이 책을 통해서 읽는 대신 그 저자가 직접 교실에 와서 학생들에게 story로 전해주는 한국외국인학교 중학생들의 프로그램이다. 대다수 초청인사들이 아마 다 민간인 출신일텐데 군출신으로 유일하게 군생활에 대한 경험과 나라와 한미동맹에 관해 언급했다.

초등 6학년부터 중학 2학년까지의 학생들이 15명씩 들어와 앉으면 8분간의 강의를 한다. 긴 이야기를 할 수가 없다. 8분 끝나면 학생들이 다른 교실로 이동하고 새로운 학생 15명이 담임선생 인솔로 온다. 그렇게 4 session을 진행한다. 얼마나 내 뜻을 알아들었는지 모르겠지만 그들에게는 한번도 들어보지 못한 색다른 체험이 되지 않았을까 싶다.

이 젊은 장군은 지금 어디에 가고 없나요? 어젯밤에 꾼 꿈처럼 다 잡을 수 없는 실체, 그림자입니다.

아직 30대인 고교친구의 딸이 교장이고 사위가 학교운영책임자이다

I was retired from the Army active duty in 2003, after 36 years of Military service.

I used to be a commander of a unit.
There are 10 thousands of soldiers under my command and many weapons, explosives, vehicles and equipments. 

Most of the soldiers are in good duty but some of the soldiers are truble maker.

I didn't select my soldiers also they didn't choose their Commander either. 
 We just get together in one unit.

When I meet my soldiers, always my mind began to work two different ways, this man is good to me, I like him. this man I don't like. This way I created by myself Heaven and hell. 

Good man /trouble maker or
bad man

When you meet a difficult situation or trouble maker, that's the best chance to upgrade your life.
'No pain, no gain'
*종소리 들려주기
소리가 일어났다가 사라지는것 알아차리기 = 平等
*색종이 보여주기 - green,  blue color
 무슨 색깔인지 모두가 똑같이 대답한다 = 平等

Not even to the people but also every situation we meet. 
Somthing good we like to have.
Somthing no good we hate them. 

I can't get all of that what I like, so we're not happy. 
What I do not like , that could be people, but I have to be there, I'm not happy either.

I realized that my mind continuously work same way.

In fact, there's no good or bad soldiers exist, only they are different each other. 
Each soldier must have strong point. I tried to see the strong point of each soldier.

어느 소령 사례
There was a Major officer under my command, he was very good, excellent on duty, daytime. But on night he became Hulk, got drunk almost every day, nobody could control him. Next morning he comeback again as a very polite man, good soldier.
I could fire him, but I tried to see his strong point and inside of his mind.
After several years he retired from the Army. He tried to change his life style He stopped drinking to meet my expectation 
어느 중사 사례

I say again,
I began to observe my mind that how it works. 
My mind automatically follows what I see, what I hear, smell, taste and touch. 
I tried to turn my mind into insight 
The reason of unhappy was my mind to follow same structure 
Without change myself, my mind no perfect happiness could be achieved 

In conclusion

보이지 않는것에 주목하자

군생활 소개
36년 군생활동안 했던 일
1) 나라를 지키고 국민의 생명과 재산을 지키는 일
2) 부하장병들의 전투력을 유지하기 위해 훈련하는 일
3) 국가에서 부여한 직책과 계급으로 국가예산과 자원을 적절히 사용하는 일
* 개인의 일이기도 하지만 대다수가 공공의 업무(public issue)들로서 그 혜택이 국민들에게 돌아간다

1~2년마다 직책이 바뀌어 근무지가 변경된다
가족과 함께 이사. (26회). 큰아들은 초등학교 6년동안 6회 전학하여 졸업 

육군사관학교 4년간 매일 암송
사관생도 신조(creed, credo)
1) 우리는 국가와 민족을 위하여 생명을 바친다
2) 우리는 언제나 명예와 신의속에 산다
3) 우리는 안일한 불의의 길보다 험난한 정의의 길을 택한다
국가와 국민에게 큰 역할을 했다는 자부심
1) 전쟁이 일어나지 않게 예방했다 (deter, prevent)
2) 국민들이 안심하고 생업에 종사하고 대한민국이 발전할 수 있게 뒷받침했다.
그 역할에 항상 자부심을 가진다.

몸뚱이는 제약
마음은 아무런 제약이 없다 no boundary 

이것과 저것을 분별하고 분석하는데는 지식이 중요하지만
지혜로움은 지식이 없어도 가능하다.
친구가 어려워할 때 마음으로 따뜻하게 위로하고 도와주기
중요한 선택을 할 때. 지식(knowledge)보다는 지혜(wisdom) 

나혼자 행복해질 수가 없다
엄마가 행복해야 가정이 행복하다 
친구가 행복하고
이웃이 행복하며
이웃나라가 행복해야 우리가 행복하다
미세먼지 발생
북한의 계속적인 위협 등

종합토의시간에는 전원이 강당에 모인다
